power seat

Asked by Jul 21, 2009 at 02:49 AM about the 1998 BMW 3 Series 328i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 16 years old daughter was learning how to use the power seat  of my 1998 328i and accidently pushing the seat ALL THE WAY forward. Now the seat is stuck in that position, I can only tilt the seat forward or backward ;or up and down......Do I have to bring the car to a mechanic or is there a "Re Set" button that I can push and solve the problem? I appreciate any help you can give me...

check the fuses.if not blown.check and make sure the switch is connected on the seat panel.if you can check power to the seat motor for forward and backwards movement or if you cant get a mutimeter in there try tapping on it with a 1/4inch extention.electric motors usually will work again for a little bit anyway by tapping on them.

I bought my car with a cassette tape manuel. I know I sound stupid but where are the fuses and how do I know which are for which? I need to check my window fuse too.
