Can you use a combination antifreeze/coolant in the coolant reservoir just under the windshield (and hood) on passenger side. It says on the reservoir not to mix products. Will it cause harm?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife added a combination antifreeze/coolant and then read that you were not to combine different types of product.  She is now wondering if we should siphon it our to avoid potential damage or if it is okay.

Antifreeze and coolant are the same thing. But like you said there are different formula's of coolants and they are not to be mixed. What type of coolant did your wife add? The Jeep uses a long life fluid, HOAT which is yellow/orange in color, it can be purchased at some local auto parts stores under the brand Zerex G-05. If your wife added the old green ethylene glycol, you will be fine and they should mix fine. Wait until you repair the leak and have the system flushed and add the appropriate coolant at that time.
