I have a 2009 G37S convertible. I had a new battery put in and I'm running into a problem I had when I first got the car. The windows drop down and won't go back up when I open the doors.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How can I reset the windows? The
dealership did it in 5 seconds. I just
hate to have to take time out of work
to go there for them to fix it.

This is a common problem when retained power is lost. You will need to perform the following procedure, it’s real simple and resolves this issue. That can occur if the battery is drained and is easily reset.--- 1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.--- 2. Close the door.--- 3. Open the window completely by operating the power window switch.-- 4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is closed completely.--- 5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete. --- 6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other windows.

Hi Steve, I have a g37 2009 convertable and the top started to get stuck and now it is stuck opened. I did the hare reset by disconnecting the neg terminal on the battery. It did not work. I read that maybe the battery is going? It does NOT make any noise when I hold down the open and close button? Any suggestions?

I replaced my battery myself and had the same issues with the power windows not going back up automatically. I followed the procedure above and it is back to normal. Saved $$$ by not having to go to a dealer.

dandyoun's solution worked perfectly I was told by a friend there was an easy fix but he didn't remember what it was so I called Grubb's Infiniti where we bought the car. The service dept. told me there is no simple fix .I probably have a problem with the motor and to bring the car in. Then I googled. Should have googled first. Probably saved hundreds of dollars.

Happened to me too! The car SCREAMS when you try to drive it if the top is not all the way closed. I limped it to the dealership. They closed the top (for $140) and told me that the latching mechanism was going bad. $3600 to fix!!

Thanks so much. The local Nissan dealer put the new battery in. I thought they might have known about the need to reset the windows. While I am at it though are other things that need to be reset after the battery is changed out?
