Car has a new engine due to recall issue. Shouldn't this increase it's trade-in value? By how much?
We recently got a new engine in our 2011 Hyundai Sonata due to a recall issue.
We are looking to trade it in, it has 59000 miles, we feel the new engine should
increase our trade-in value, but the most we have been offered is $8000.
Normally would a dealer-replaced engine increase the trade-in value of a car,
and if so, by how much?
You can bring that up with your dealer but they may not think the same way you do. The car will almost certainly be auctioned off so I doubt they will get anymore for it with the new engine.
Dealers want to buy their trade ins for the lower cost possible. You'd be better off selling privately for more.
