Why won't it start?

Asked by Jul 01, 2012 at 09:01 AM about the 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery seems to be fine (lights, dash, everything comes on) but it won't start.  Loud clicking/knocking noise when I turn the key.  Any ideas?  Starter maybe?

Battery is bad. You can have the lights on, but not enough power to crank the car over. Classic low battery cranking amps, is a clicking noise. Test the battery with a voltmeter/multimeter and it should be 12.4 or higher to start the car, or take it out and have a local auto parts store test it for you.
