Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 F-150 4.6 V8 is 36 month old.  Purchased new.  Change oil every 5K with full synthetic.  20K miles at most recent oil change today.  First time I actually measured.  Seems to have used about 1 quart out of 6 since last change about 9 months / 5K miles ago.  Question.  Would that amount of oil loss appear to be acceptable/usual or something to investigate.  There is no leak, I've checked.

Most mechanics will tell you burning 1 qt out of 5 total in 3K is acceptable. I'd say your fine. Just check your oil level more frequently now that you have some miles on the engine.

You're doing fine and so is your engine. Enjoy your truck!
