I hit a fire hydrant over the weekend. Luckily, i was only traveling about 5mph. My alignment is extremely off. About 1/4 turn to the left. Small amount of body damage. What are some internal/mechanical issues i may have. I drove the vehicle home. One more thing, the anti skid service required light is now home. What am i looking at repair wise? Ty for your opinions and advice
You can wait till your insurance adjuster inspects the vehicle. Suspension components will be bent or broken, frame damage? ABS sensors and brakes are compromised. Don't drive it till you get it into the shop. Cost wise will cost you your deductible, or can I assume you didn't report this accident ? Hard to say without looking at the vehicle.
I think you'll make out just fine, much better than I did when I pulled a totally unplanned semi-Dukes of Hazzard move with my previous 2006 Volvo S40 with a raised section of a city street that was not visible. Car bottomed out, cracked front axle = $5,000 worth of repairs - $500.00 deductible. However, Volvo repairs are NOT cheap and even your minor accident will likely exceed your deductible (assuming $500.00). I'd report it to the insurance company..did you skid into the hydrant? Things would go better if it can be determined that you were NOT at fault in this situation.
