loud roaring noise and smell when cranked this morning

Our 2005 ford focus just got out of shop last week for tranmissin work,now thi loud sound ,and the smell of ether to me,or something..  Also my spare key want crank the car anymore,will still open the door and roll the windows down though,,i was wondering if them changing something in the computer board had caused this or the transmission worked on.

They screwed up your PATS...Passive Anti Theft System. The red LED should stop blinking when you put key in. You don't even have to turn it. If I am correct here, the red LED continues to blink with key in ignition. If ir goes out..I'm wrong. Regardless, if you even SUSPECT you detect the odor of gasoline, do NOT drive the car. The risk of fire is all too real, even deadly. Have it towed back to the shoip, before you do get them to agree to pay the tow-bill. If they refuse, still do NOT drive it if you smell raw gasoline.

This is not unrealistic. 2 years ago I had a car stolen and god knows why, the creeps torched it. I will never figure out why..a perfectly good car. Long story, but a better-than-average car. If you smell gasoline your car may end up looking like this ---- click for full screen
