2009-2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm thinking of buying a 2009-2014 Hyundai Genesis. Is there any difference in reliability from the V6 or the V8? If you own one I'm curious how many miles you have on it? And have you had any problems/repairs needed? Thanks for any info.

I have a 2010 Genesis sedan, and chose the V6 over the V8 because during the test drive I found the V8 to make the car nose heavy; the V6 cornered much better. I bought it new, and now I have 143,000 miles on it. The engine has been treated with synthetic oil replaced every 10,000 miles. The performance of the engine is as though new. I don't know if the V8 could have been more reliable, as my engine has been faultless. Oddly, I have noticed that the V8 seems to match or even beat the V6 on gas mileage ( from fuelly) . I don't know if that is due to the style of driving. I have gotten 22.3 mpg, overall, calculated by mileage and fuel purchased, as the dashboard monitor is consistently 0.8 mpg optimistic. Since the Genesis from 2010 year was rated for regular gas, correcting to premium prices for gas makes my overall mileage 31 mpg. (regular gasoline typically costs 0.72 of premium).
