Okay has anyone ever heard of a brake silencer in the master cylinder?
I have a noise inside of my car, and I feel a friction feeling when I press my brake pedal. The noise is whenever I press the pedal and also depress the pedal. I went to the dealership to have them look at it, but I changed my mind and drove home. My car is under warranty, however I would like to try and attempt to fix the problem myself. The service consultant said that there is a grommet that is located somewhere near the master cylinder area. And the grommet could have gotten wore down.
P.S. Does this have anything to do with my brake pads? My car has around 28,000 miles on it, and I haven't had the front brakes checked even once.
Not sure of any grommet you speak of, but if you have a friction feeling when you hit the brakes, I'd look at the front brake pads, especially since you never had them checked. At 28K, not sure they can be, but depends on how you have been driving and braking hard. They might be worn down, scoring the rotors. Brakes are usually not covered under warranty, due to them being a wear item. Don't drive far till you get this noise checked out.
