I want to buy a 2010 explorer with 200,k how long before problems
My Mountaineer blew a piston at 286K, I knew something was about to happen to it as it started making loud piston slap about a week before it let fly. So this might give you some idea.
Why would you even consider a vehicle with 200,000 miles on it?
The price and the previous owner !
It's probably already begun to nickel and dime the seller. At that age and mileage it's a crap shoot. You could go a year or two trouble free or it could drop dead tomorrow. If it's been well maintained your chances are better for a trouble free time period after purchase. HTH. -Jim
