2010 Honda Pilot - loud ride even with new tires, less aggressive tread, just balanced
Had four new tires added - went with less aggressive tread to try to minimize noise. Still can barely talk in the car due to the loud and constant roar at all speeds.
Maybe one of your wheel bearings is failing. Have an alignment done when the tires were swapped?
Not aligned, yet. Taking it in for a check on the bearings.......
are you sure its the tires causing the noise?
The answers to the noise and ride issues were: 1 - Right front wheel bearing was bad, it was replaced 2 - Replaced both front struts 3 - Replaced Stabilizer Link Arms 4 - Front & Rear alignment done After repairs were completed the ride was greatly improved and the noise issues were gone.
Your Pilot is only 4 years old and needed that much replaced? Have you been off-roading or what ?
Tires don't make that kind of noise. How many miles have you put on?
It had 99,000 miles on it, everything was covered under the extended warranty, never been off the paved roads..... so far, so good with the repairs.
you may not have been off roading with the car, what about the previous owner? or are you the only owner?
Yah thats a good question Jonathan. I mean almost 100k in 4 years = 25,000 miles a year! Thats 2x the average 12,000/yr. Personally I would never buy a car that averaged over 15,000/yr. WHY? There's other low mileage ones out there. *Mileage is practically everything when they build cars to FAIL soon after mfg. warranty expires. These days you're lucky if you can get to 100k without lots of major repairs. I have a mid 90's car now that is almost 20 years old less than 140k. (avg. just 7,200/yr.) *You are so LUCKY you bought that extended warranty!
i had a 2002 saturn no major problems that had 144k on it when i traded it in. did burn oil so i had to add a quart of oil every now and then but i had to get rid of it because the clutch was on its way out. cost more to fix than what the car was worth. got $300 for the trade lol
We are having the same issue with our 2011 Pilot... Thankful we have extended warranty, too. Going to get this checked out this week. Thanks so much for posting this. We almost thought we had to trade it in!!!!
Hi Did anyone else figure this out, we have the same problem!!
Our 2007 Pilot has the same issues. Goes through brand new - and expensive high quality tires 4x faster than any other vehicle. Loud on the road. Tires cup or get chewed up. Yes, we rotate them. Can't figure out what the underlying issue is on these Pilots chewing through tires so quickly.
My 2015 Pilot was noisy. At 3000 miles I had one dealer check it out. They said No Noise Found! At 5000 miles another dealer agreed that the left wheel bearing was noisy. Kept the car for 3 days and said they replaced the bearing. NOISE WAS STILL THERE. Had a 3000 mile vacation in one week and brought it back to the dealer. They said no noise found and kept the car 2 days. I bought a hub assembly and replaced the left side which was supposedly replaced by the dealer. The noise is GONE. So much for Honda Warranty and dealer support. American Honda has an open complaint for this. Next car will NOT be a Honda.
People should stop whining about warranties so much. So you just depend on a warranty? So every car company can take advantage of everyone? Its like 5 bolts to remove ot yourself and slip the other one in and go on with your life. Your going to stray away from pretty much the best, most respected and dependable car sompany ever?? See how much you wimper wjen you but a GM piece of crap lol. You'll be crawling back to Honda
