i have scion 20010 the gas tap was loss after four days the engine light turn on i buy a new gas cap but the engine light still on how long takes to turn off

It shouldn't take long, a couple of drives maybe, but you should have the computer scanned for codes to see if there are any other problems. if the evap code for the cap is the only one, shut the light off with the code reader and it should stay off since you replaced the cap.
