Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What do you mean by having the car scanned?
Taking it to a shop and have it hooked up to a
machine that will give a reading of what's wrong
with it ? Where you suggest? Firestone? Sears? I
live in Georgia!

I would suggest a chevy dealer, but if you have a good mechanic that has the diagnostic tool,s to check it that is ok to,but my advice would be have someone remove the positive cable from battery for a few minutes just to see if it is a glitch, this will reset it,and if light comes back on,take it to a pro.

You can get it done for free at most auto parts stores. What they are 'scanning' for are the "diagnostic trouble codes" (DTC) from the on board diagnostic (port (most cars have what is called "OBD2" nowadays) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics. You can also buy your own scanner, they're not too expensive.
