air compressor pump 2010 chevy equinox

Asked by Jun 30, 2013 at 03:11 AM about the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our 2010 equinox makes a rattling noise whenever the fan(air) hot or cold is on, ac works great, blows cold and the heater blows hot, is there an easy or cheap fix or is it the whole pump assembly? My mechanic quoted me $1200 to fix... ouch... any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
PS its been doing it for over 7 months now (I know that's bad)

Might be something that somehow got into the air ducts and is now bouncing around in the fan. It's a pain to get to the fan, youd pretty much need to take out the entire dash to replace it. Huge job and very tricky to do without messing up the dash, personally I'd let it rattle on until the fan dies on me and then have it done by someone else.
