Ran out of gas

Asked by Jun 05, 2016 at 09:10 AM about the 2009 Kia Rio Base

Question type: General

I ran out of gas, put gas in it and it was difficult to start.
Then it cranked throughout the day but was giving me
trouble starting it. Like all the lights will come on but the
car will not start. After filling it up at the gas station it
would not crank at all. I had to leave my car at the gas
station. What could it be?? The battery? Please help!

You might have burnout out the fuel pump candor clogged the fuel filter, then cranking the engine over till you drained the battery.

Yep-- fuel pump is dead

When you run the tank all the way down the crud in the tank can get sucked into the fuel line and may be clogging the fuel filter. Try swapping that out and if it still isn't getting fuel then try the pump.
