I had just last month purchased the vw cc 2.0t 2009 and have been having no problems with it I actually love it.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

However, its been about -1 to -45
frequently as of late and still no
problems till today. It drove fine I
stopped at a gas station for about 20
minutes and once I returned to my car
the power steering light was on and
straight to red never once was yellow. As
I am new to vw and power steering assist
motors I figured I'd ask to be safe but is it
safe to assume that it probably froze
because warm things freeze faster? Or
should I accept calling a tow truck
instead of hoping it warms up? I have
200 miles till I'm home.

The RED light can indicate the failure of the power steering system. Switch off the ignition for at least 30 seconds. See if the light goes out on it's own. Sometimes a weak battery will cause the light to go on. If possible AVOID driving the vehicle until you can take it in but if you have to drive it no worries either. Driving while it is red will not break anything else except that which is already broken. You just won't have power steering and it will be harder to steer the car.
