I have an '05 Ford Excursion Ltd. The overhead display that shows direction & miles to empty will come on briefly but not stay on. Is this a fuse or loose wire problem?

they go that way sometimes, you need to remove it and have it repaired, Its a easy repair so should not cost you too much, and they are easy to remove.

Is it possibly something I could remove & fix myself? I called the dealership and they said I have to bring it in and have it replaced. Seriously trying to avoid THAT!

well you can remove it that is easy but to repair it yourself might be a little out of reach, i send them to a guy and I think he takes them apart and solders some conection, but check with a auto wrecker they might be cheap to buy a used one, the dealer will just sell you a new one.ave nothing to loose taking it aprt and having a looksee inside.

Any chance you could guide me on how to remove it? I'm thinking its maybe a loose wire. Maybe (hopefully) something I could fix. Probably not but I'm willing to give it the ol college try!

its been a few years since I had my expedition, (i loved it) I think there are just a few star screws that hold it in, I will look at a freind of mine tomorow and give you the low down how to do it, I remember its pretty easy

I finaly checked my buddys truck, he does not have that option in this one, he had it in his last one, He said you have to remove some screws and remove the plastic bezel (cover) than a few more screws it sill come out, just unplug it. He took his own apart and he is not that handy so im sure you can do it too
