Headlight connector burning up

Asked by Apr 23, 2017 at 09:50 PM about the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 SPORT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The connector(plug) that the headlight snaps into is burning out. I have to
keep fixing it to get the light to work. I bought a new harness and installed it
thinking the materials in the old one were defective but the new one is starting
to burn out also. Wondering of anyone has experienced this or if anyone
knows if this is a design issue?

Thats usually a grounding issue, you as you will have to replace the connector soon check and clean all the headlight grounds and then replace the lamps with LEDs, as they are low current demand this should stop any more future problems, plus you will like the way the lamps light up signs, highway lines and other stuff way down the road. Right now EBay seems to be the best place to get them. I have put LED's in my Truck, my wife's car and my motorcycle.
