My car wont start and I have a P1009 engine code

Asked by Hurleybird1 Sep 09, 2017 at 08:08 PM about the 2009 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have had some recent problems. replaced both cam sensors and car eventually ran better. I let it get a couple of quarts low on oil and the car started having an intermittent rattle while driving. Its had a rattle on startup for quite a while. Now it starts for a few seconds and dies and I have a P1009 engine code. Do you think it is likely timing chain/tensioner problem or should the VTC control be replaced

Timing chain stretched/off. Time to take it apart. Check compression before you take it apart, because it may need piston rings also if it uses oil.

@hurleybird1 did you ever figure out what the issue was on this car? I'm having the same issues and can't figure it out
