I'm looking at buying a 2009 Audi A8 TDI 4.2lt twin turbo diesel that has 90,000km on the clock. What l want to know is are they a reliable car and how many kilometeres should l get out of the car?
I realize this is a broad question but l would like to know how many kilometers l should get out of the vehicle before it starts costing me money?
Cars will cost you money from the beginning. Always maintenance, petrol, oil , worn part, parts that fail, etc. Hard to say how long it will last. Most cars today go around 321000km before needing a large ticket item replaced like an engine or trans. The key is to take care of it.
Thanks for the information Mark l appreciate it. I've always bought Japanese cars so I'm really not familiar with the European models. It's got full service history books so hopefully the owner looked after the car. Small repairs I can handle but engines or transmissions would be a nightmare. I plan to keep it for 3 years then sell it so you would hope that nothing major should go wrong with it within that time frame. Buy the time I sell it I should have 150,000km on the clock which really is nothing for a V8. I've always wanted a big luxurious saloon vehicle so I might purchase the vehicle this Friday if everything seems in order. Anyway thanks for your help regards Michael.
Just realized your names Tom sorry don't know where I got mark from half asleep
