The open door light is always on. I checked all doors, yet light is still on. At same time, the dome lights are on for a few minutes after.

Question type: General

The "door" open warning light is always on. Even after I put the car in gear and start to drive, the dome lights stay on for a couple minutes, they eventually do go out but the door open warning stays on. On other cars I owed I  the past, there is a door switch just close to the door hinges, when you close the door, the switch is depressed and light goes out, where one can push this switch manually and light goes out. I don't see any such switch on my 2005 XLT 4WD Escape. At first I thought it was due to such a cold winter we're having. Any suggestions? Thanks to all that can assist.

I rue the day when the engineers decided to put the switches inside the door on the latch assembly, now you have to pull access panels off just to deactivate each door each to isolate what door is causing the problem, and it really fouls you up if you have more than 1 door that is messed up. Good Luck
