09 Lincoln MKX won’t start when engine is warm
My Lincoln MKX won’t start when engine is
warm. Starts fine after it’s been sitting for a
while. 4 mechanics have been unable to
diagnose the issue. I’ve had a tune up within
the last 3 months, battery is about 1 year old,
purge valve has been replaced and a filter(I
can’t remember which one). Please help!
Your car has a fuel or electrical problem; really could be either. It could be leaking fuel injectors. It could be a bad sensor: crankshaft position, cam position, or maybe engine coolant temperature. Might even involve ignition components, such as coil or igniter. Without actually seeing the car, it's not possible to say what the exact problem is. You should take the car to a car parts store to have codes read, probably free. That should narrow it down. Then find a batter mechanic.
Thank you for the feedback. No diagnostic codes come up when the car is hooked up to the reader. Also, when I initially took the car in I didn’t realize that it was only happening when the car was warm so when the mechanics started the car up it worked without issue. Any recommendations for narrowing down the issue since no codes are being produced?
Would love to know if you found out what the problem was! Same issues here, have taken it several times to the mechanics and everytime it cranks for them. But if I drive it to work it will not start to get back home at the end of the day.
Yes I actually did find out what was going on. I needed 1 of the 2 engine fans replaced and a new fuel pump. Car has been working great since the repair. Good luck getting your car fixed!
