2005 Ford Escape gear problem

My Ford Escape 2005, 2.3 have a gear issue. When I put it on drive it may
move or may not, if it eventually move, while throttling the momentum seizes.
the O/D light stopped displaying on the dash

Definitely a trans issue. Best to have your mechanic check it out.
