Asked by Nov 24, 2015 at 03:49 PM about the 2009 Ford Taurus X Limited

Question type: Car Customization

My battery died and was replaced.   The dvd and cd players no longer work
says initializing.  The mileage and miles to next fill are frozen as well.   How do
I get them to work?

try disconnecting a battery cable then turn on the headlight switch, wait at least 30 seconds then turn off the headlight switch, now when you get ready to reconnect the battery cable do it quickly trying not to make it arch, the main computer is now reset, start the engine and check your systems that were giving you a problem, if the above procedure did not cure your trouble then the system will have to be reflashed by a dealer. there is a device that uses a 9 volt battery and is called a code saver that plugs into the power port or lighter depending on what port is hot with the key off, it also maintains the vehicles presents like in the radio, seats, mirrors etc. If you are going to be doing any electrical I would purchase one.
