ford taurus a/c fan
Goodyear rep tells me I need to replace primary fan that is not clicking on. Secondary fan
seems to be working. Their description sounds more like a compressor issue. I am
working from logic not knowledge. 1999 ford taurus. When it runs it sounds like
something is trying to click on and can't.
The secondary fan is for the A/C system, it turns on usually when the A/C system demands more air flow, the primary fan is for engine cooling, this fan is a very important, without it the engine may and most likely will overheat causing at the least blown head gaskets and head warping. so if they did the circuit test properly and said that the fan motor is kaput, then it needs replacement. It is not a complex operation but care must be taken not to damage the radiator fins. The cooling fan housing must be removed to gain access to the motors.
