I have a 2009 chev silverado 5.3 litre knocking with 200,000KM on it.
Please help, I am a female with a 2009 chev 5.3 litre, with 200,000
kilometers on it. It started knocking in lower part of the engine a bit ago. It
only does it when it is warmed up. and it is a knocking sound, NOT a
ticking sound. It is coming from the bottom part of the engine, you can't
hear it from the top. I can't believe the work I have had to do to this truck. I
bought it brand new off the lot and it is my 3 rd brand new truck from
Chev. first off was the oil return....I registered this when under warranty at
120,000km with 6 months time left on the truck. Chevrolet waited me out,
and then made me pay 1/2 of the repair to put the shield on the oil return
Sounds like a rod knock. Since you've already had trouble with the oiling system I'd say that's what it is. If you've already got a lot of money in the truck for repairs I wouldn't fix it. Cut your losses and move on. If you do decide to fix it get a crate engine. Don't bother replacing the bearings and crankshaft. In my opinion it's not worth the aggravation. HTH. -Jim
