REAL FUEL MILEAGE

Asked by mideerhunter Aug 25, 2014 at 02:16 PM about the 2009 Mercury Sable Premier Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking at buying a 2009 with 92k miles and I was wondering if the proclaimed 28mpg on the highway is real.  Also, I wanted to know if there were any major issues with transmission or anything.  Thanks.

28MPG is a bit of a stretch. Yes, the transmission is the weakest link in any front wheel drive vehicle although I haven't heard of any specific failures with this one. Have a mechanic check it out before you buy it. Transmissions are $2000 and up.
