91 Octane Premium

Asked by Jul 24, 2016 at 02:36 PM about the 2009 Ford Focus SES

Question type: General

I have a 09 Ford Focus 2.0L SES 4cyl. About a
month ago i had a K&N performance air intake
installed and a Performance race exhaust system to
increase air flow. Then not to soon after i noticed
when i came to a complete stop at a stoplight and
then started to accelerate, it hesitates and doesnt
want to move at first, and then it will take off like
normal. Ive been using 87 octane gas since i got the
car but i was wondering if i started experimenting
with 91 octane or premium would that benefit the
performance of the car at all? Thanks

Doubtful, it would be advisable to have it live data scanned, it is possible that a sensor is out of specs but not enough for the computer to read it as an malfunction.

The oil that goes on those K&N Air Filters contaminates the mass airflow sensor. HTH. -Jim
