My Ford Escape will not go into reverse. The code says it's a solenoid, but my mechanic says it's a broken "plate" of some kind. Bottom line is, $3000 for a new trans &1000 for used. Is that right?
That's the prices for repair. You can always get a second opinion. Usually when a part breaks in the transmission and you have some miles on it, it's recommended to replace all the parts to be warrantied.
Stay away from a used tranny unless you want too just get it going and trade it in.
