My cobalt showed me a code when I turned it off... it was the number 9. What does this mean?

Showed you a code? Please describe further. Fault codes are pulled using a scan tool in the diagnostic port. Not sure what you are seeing. Can you post a pic?

there is an information center on the tachometer...(sp) it shows your mileage and temperature, and tire pressure etc..... when I turned my car off a number 9 flashed on it. some one told me it was a code.
