I think my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer timing belt is slipping or broke. What are the signs if this is the problem?

Sounds to me like your out of gas, or your fuel filter is in need of change, or fuel pump no good. The high rev is because it's burning the last gas fumes 1) check that you do have gas in your tank. 2.) Check fuse block for burnt fuse and check if fuel pump is working. when you turn your key to the on position, you should hear a faint buzzing or humming sound that lasts for a few seconds and then stops. This means that your fuel raiĺ fuel line are up to pressure or pressurized.
