87 thunderbird turbo coupe gas gage don't work..
Your looking at a fuel sending unit. I don't remember if you can get it from the trunk.
Your going to be dropping the gas tank to replace it the sending unit, it's part of the fuel pump assembly. Sometimes the gauge is at fault or check the back of the circuit board of the cluster. On the back of the cluster there's a "anti slosh" module chipboard that can become loose. Fuel guage will be pegged past full and the "low fuel" light might be on. Pull the cluster and secure it.
I believe Tom had hit the nail on the head. Good chance it is the sending unit but the other items are definately a possibility too. Good luck.
It's all new. He hot wire is OK and the ground works. If I unplug the unit the as gauge will go towards full but plug it in goes back to empty.
I took the unit back out of tank and heckled it and with test light it old flash and move the arm gets a little brighter when all the way up so the sending unit seams to be working it's not working at the dash.If it's unplugged the gauge will go towards full.
