My car has cut off on me and a machanic said I have to reset the computer

To reset computer,he forgot to tell you its a#10 fuse if you remove it for 5 minutes,n put it back that should reset it,by chance is your fuseblock on side of dash by passenger door if so look for10 fuse to ECM,or computer
