Electrical smoke thru ac vents

Asked by Jun 11, 2017 at 02:26 PM about the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 SXT Mega Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was  coming home from church when smoke
poured out of my ac vents that smelled electrical.
By the time I pulled over it stopped. I looked under
the hood but there was no smoke. No lights on the
dash went on so I have no clue what happened.

Something under the dash got hot and melted. You'll know what circuit it was when something doesn't work, or you start your search.

Sounds like the blower motor resistor block burned out. It usually sits next to the blower motor and is cooled by the air going past it on it's way to the passenger's compartment. It has a plug on it with 5 or 6 wires. HTH. -Jim
