do you have to reprogram a computer after replacing an engine on a 2008 Ram 2500 5.9l engine?

If you replaced with the same engine, no. Just remove the battery cables and touch them together for a few mins to wipe out the adaptive memory from the computer. That way the computer can start relearning the settings needed to make the new engine run.

If you installed the wrong engine you may need the correct ECU for that engine.
