We're looking at a 2008 impreza with 52,000 that just had the head gasket replaced. Does this mean anything about possible future engine repairs?

Not likely, as long as the work was done correctly by a reputable shop you should be fine.

Do some research. If these vehicles are prone to head gasket failure, like the Cadillac Northstar, I'd say you'd be making out on the deal. Somebody else has already paid for the repair. HTH. -Jim
