My mini cooper sport 08 has to have oil put in almost every 2 weeks, but sometimes more often. Smoke comes out of my exhaust pipe and the pipe is full of sutt. Now my yellow check engine light is on. Can anybody shed light on this situation?

That sounds like it is burning oil and may have fouled out the O2 sensors, possible cause of the yellow light, the limit for oil consumption is a quart in 600 miles, so if your engine is using that amount then it is very likely it is time for an overhaul or the engine has suffered some internal damage that has caused this, you didn't state how many miles were on the engine so it is hard to judge if this is an abnormal condition at this time.
