It is just an extra feature on your truck that helps stop the vehicle from spinning out and turning, etc. but you can turn it off by pushing a button, so its truly not needed. The most likely scenerio is this: you are driving and turning onto the highway ramp so you decide to gun it, with the stabiltrack on instead of spinning out or herring off the road the engine computer sends a signal to the rear sensor and basically disengaged the drive or taps the breaks so fast you cannot feel it, thus saving you from going into the ditch. If you don't have stabiltrak the other solution in this scenario would be to let off the gas and solving the same problem. But if you have a problem with it it might be under warranty if not we had one done the other day and cost under $300, not by much.
