Question about DTE

Asked by Joe Feb 09, 2017 at 06:26 PM about the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my way home from work my engine light came
on along with battery light. The dash read check
gauges.. i pulled over and shut car off.. i waited a
couple of minutes and after a few attempts my
jeep started engine light on still no battery light.. i
scanned car code p2181 came up a coolant issue
light is no longer on but my DTE  dropped 100
miles in a 50 mile drive home. Then on way to work
i noticed another 70 mile drop.. it will go up a
number and down 30 then up and down.. its not
thermostat i have heat, light is off so im guessing
not censer.. im lost and cant afford big time dealer
price repairs.. anyone hvae a suggestion or have
had this happen? Does the DTE take days to reset
to normal. It has always worked. Thanks for
