2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 166K miles

Asked by Jul 20, 2016 at 10:38 PM about the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Question type: General

Hi.  I am considering purchasing a 2008 V8 Grand Cherokee with 166K miles
from a dealer.  It looks great but does it last?  Sure the gas mileage isn't the
best but it has 4 wheel drive (I think). They have done their "check" on it and
state that it is in good condition. It is only $9,995.00.  Does anyone have any
ideas as to whether or not I should take the leap?  (I would be leaving a dog of
a car - 2010 Nissan Versa with 80K but still works just fine without any repair
needs).

The information says: The car you've always wanted! Here's a great deal on a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee! Pure practicality in a stylish package. Top features include power front seats, speed sensitive wipers, adjus table pedals, and fully automatic headlights. It features four-wheel drive capabilities, a durable automatic transmission, and a powerful 8 cylinder engine. Does that mean that it is a 4 wheel drive?

Don't buy it as it will be a money pit!

160K is when my Jeep started having problems, transmission sensors, valve guide seals, small oil leaks started showing up, rear differential started to howl just slightly. I would find something else or just stick with what you have, as you stated, there is nothing wrong with it right now.

Might as well spend ten grand on a rowboat with a hole in it-
