the bottom hose returning to radiator is cold and the top one leaving is hot. whats up?

That's normal. Coolant leaves the radiator via the bottom hose and returns from the engine via the top hose. Sounds like your radiator is doing it's job. HTH. -Jim

Yes, normal as per Jim's answer. If they were both heating up your thermostat is shot. Why are you having other issues.
