Mercedes Benz SL550 computer thinks the trunk is open but its closed.
Is the truck light ON? getting a 'trunk open' message..
Yes- it states "trunk open"
Possibility a sensor in the trunk that is malfunctioning as I know the 'boot lid' is closed. The power top will not work when this warning is active. Open the trunk lid and close it firmly then give it a push downward to be certain it's contacting the sensor. ( temporary solution) IF this works there are two tiny micro switches located inside of the rear door's lock. Those switches are monitoring the status of the door and the Cargo Area lights. I suggest inspecting them, I use a MB STAR C4 to scan for codes on RCM roof control modules along with computer DTC codes. The key fob can be checked after the "Truck Open" light is off.
I am having the exact problem with my 2009 SL550. What was the fix? It will be time to.put the top down soon and I would like to be able to enjoy!
The latch needed to be replaced.
About how much?
It was my Mom's car and she couldn't remember.
Hi All Had this problem in my wife’s 2009 sl550. Turns out that a simple adjustment to the thing ( not tech term sorry) that the latch grabs on to was not aligned properly. There is a small access panel inside the trunk. A little fiddling and all is good now.
Hey, my 2012 SL is also having the same symptoms that you were having. What happened with the 2 beeps when you lock the car with the keyfob? Did you fix that? What was the problem?
As I recall there were no beeps when I had the problem. Their car did lock, but no beep or light flash. However, .everything worked perfectly after adjusting the latch holder in the trunk. I did not need anything else. Good luck hope it works for you too.
