Dodge Charger 08 WON'T START, lights and dash lights all come on but won't turn over. NO PREVIOUS DELAY STARTING CAR
So my 08 Dodge Charger recently died right in the middle of the road. At first we checked for an error code and it was P0562 but that was no longer the issue after looking this up on the internet I am being told there could be numerous things wrong. 1 could be the starter relay is messing up and I need to order a new relay, the other could be the WIN is not reading my keys and letting the start the vehicle, and a part may be broken, and finally I am being told that my grounding could be a slipped up issue as well. I cannot get the vehicle to the dealership with it being completely unable to start. I'm wondering if any one has actually heard of these issues and knows what I can do to try and fix it or even temp fix it long enough to get it to a mechanic?
The day before it started just fine, it did make a weird clicking noise when accelerating, but it still drove. The car died yesterday when I decided to accelerate up a slight hill. I then lost power steering, and could not use the gas pedal. I've been looking this stuff up for the last little while, and cannot figure out the honest true problem, some people are even saying it's the WIN system :/ I have no idea what's going on here :(
If you are in a location where you can get to the engine bay with no problem, then start by checking the obvious. 1. Is the serpentine belt at proper tension? 2. Can you remove the battery and have it checked at NAPA, O'Reilly's, etc. for charge and continuity? 3. I looked up the code on the net and located the following, hope it helps: 2008 Dodge Charger Code PO562 P0562 Dodge - System Under Voltage What does this mean? PDF Share Code Possible causes - Low battery charge - Battery defective - Loose or missing alternator drive belt - Faulty alternator - Open or short system voltage circuit What does this mean? Tech notes Start by recharging or replacing the battery. When is the code detected? System voltage falls below 8.5 volts with the engine RPM greater than 2000 RPM for 60 seconds Possible symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Slow engine start - Low battery power P0562 Dodge Description The battery supplies electricity to the Engine Control Module (ECM) even when the ignition switch is OFF. This electricity allows the ECM to store data such as Detected Trouble Code (DTC) history, freeze frame data, fuel trim values and other data. If the battery voltage falls below a minimum level, the ECM will conclude that there is a fault in the power supply circuit. The next time the engine starts, the ECM will turn on the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and a DTC will be set. Read more: http://engine-codes.com/p0562_dodge.html#ixzz3dtDym9Go
