Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Dodge Charger and my check engine
light comes on then goes off. It came on my
husband drove it for a good amount of time, it then
went off about 3 days later it came on and then a
few hours later it went off. Does any body have any
ideas or suggestions.

Get the codes read, most parts stores do this now for free, write them down and repost back here and someone will jump in and help you with further diagnostics.

Tennisshoes thank you........but I will have to wait for the light to come on in order for me to get it read right?

Nope it is stored in the memory, it takes up to 20 cold starts to delete a code.

Tennisshoes thank you and I will get it checked then.

Ok so the engine light went off but I still took it to get read and the dealership told me it's reading a cylinder one miss fire but it can't be diagnosed until the light comes back on.......any suggestions?

If at all possible stay from dealerships, they only pay their techs on a flat rate so if the problem isn't obvious they won't take the time to do any searching. I know cause I was once one of those Techs and know how their system works. I have found many problems when the light is off with my live data scanner, a cylinder misfire can be a number of things, bad spark plug, bad coil, weak injector, even a vacuum leak. So find a good independent shop, one that will listen to you and what you have done and you will be much happier with your vehicles maintenance and repair bills.

What does a tune up consist of in my 2008 Dodge Charger
