2008 Dodge Charger SE 2.7 won't crank. Battery and Starter good.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Dodge Charger 2.7.  I can turn key on and hear fuel pump turn
on as will as all my dash lights and sounds.  But it will not turn over.  It just
clicks.  BUT if I jumpstart the car WITH the negative cable disconnected from
the battery in the trunk it will start. I can even take jumper cables and hook
them up to the battery in the trunk and connect the other end to the jumper
spot under the hood and it will start BUT only when I disconnect the negative
cable from the battery.  What is going on?  Grounding issue?  I even
switched out the relay switch in the fuse box with another one in there and
still nothing.  Help!!!!!!!

I would visually trace the neg cable best you can and look for any other problems , then do voltage drop tests on the starter cables , If you're unsure perhaps you should take it to a good garage with a technician , pulling the batt cables and screwing around like that can cause other problems

UPDATE: I found the problem. Negative cable from body to engine block was oily and had grease all around it. I removed it, cleaned and sanded it and reattached it and it now starts.
