Does the 2008 MKX have a boot or gasket where the exhaust connects tot he catalytic converter?
I recently was forced almost off road by another driver during a heavy rainstorm, the
rain had formed deep running water at the side of the road and when I had to swerve to
avoid a truck coming at me in my lane I got in the deep water going about 25-30mph.
Immediately my car started to roar and lost some power. When I was able to pull over
I see the exhaust had separated at the catalytic converter (I think) and was able to get
it back together, but wonder if I lost a boot or gasket? seems funny to me that the
pipes would be so loosely connected (slip one inside the other) but I know NOTHING
about cars. Thanks for any help.
I would think there should be a gasket and a bolted connection, but maybe it was welded and rusted. Stop off at a muffler shop and have them connect it back up for you. Should be a simple fix and or weld.
