What causes a starter to engage in park?

2008 Kia Amanti has the starter engage in park as well when the key is placed in
accessory or when the car is shut off. Any idea's or is a exorcism in order?

Clean all the battery connection and make sure the battery it selfe is good a bat is only good for about 5 years these days. or starter may be messed up

hey there i have 2009 amanti and im going through the same problem now. i just changed the starter because it went bad due the the problem and i also replaced the ignition(key tumbler) because someone told me that was the problem and it was not. i hope you fixed it and if so can you share what the solution was? PLEASE! jlion7@yahoo.com
