This is mounted next the to OBD on my 2008 commander. what is it for?

Nope, googled pics of ambient temp sensors, and none of the pics look like this thing.

no numbers visible. I don't want to remove it to see more. This came on the Commander when bought new. I don't want to drive all the way to the dealer to ask them, and my wife usually takes "her" car in for any service. Couldn't find anything on Rock Auto that would match. The car as Sirus/XM, GPS maps, no fancy add-ons.

I didn't know it was there until I bought a OBD scanner and saw this thing next to the OBD jack. Now I'm obsessed with wanting to know.....
