i have replaced my thermostat, head gasket and the last owner had put a new radiator in it. drove it 25 miles home and it overheated and died now it wont start and the oil light is on what could it be

Oil light on can be low to no oil pressure or the sender is faulty. But you said you overheated after all the work on the car. SO maybe a low coolant level, or water pump. etc. Did you pull over and turn off the car as soon as the temp went up? If not and you continued to drive with an overheating car until the engine oil boiled and the car stopped, then it's game over for the engine.
